Welcome

EHA-Baltic Hematology Tutorial in Riga, 28th-30th August, 2020

It is with great pleasure that the European Hematology Association (EHA), the Latvian Society of Hematology (LASH), the Estonian Society of Hematology (ESH) and the Lithuanian Society of Hematology (LSH) welcome you to the EHA-Baltic Hematology Tutorial in Riga, Latvia. We are happy to organize this second joint meeting with the focus on Bleeding Disorders & Thrombosis.

In the following three days through lectures, self-assessment cases and clinical cases the faculty members, including international speakers and local presenters will aim at expanding your knowledge on congenital and acquired bleeding disorders. As such we trust that you will gain the right information to classify diseases such as hemophilia, Von Willebrand disease, immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), thrombophilia, platelet function disorders, and chronic disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC).

We hope that this meeting will offer valuable information that will help you in everyday practice and that you profit from the discussions and interaction with hematology peers and faculty members.

After this meeting we believe that you will be able to:

  • explain the new treatment drugs for hemophilia, Von Willebrand disease, ITP, and chronic DIC,
  • classify the genetic mutations of congenital thrombophilia,
  • classify platelet function disorders,
  • identify indications for vitamin K antagonist and NOAC use in case of hematological and oncological diseases, and
  • describe thrombo-elastography as a diagnostic tool.

We would like to thank all faculty members for their time and effort in preparing their contributions, and for sharing their expertise during this Tutorial.

We are happy to welcome you Riga and look forward to a fruitful meeting.

Sincerely,

Prof. Sandra Lejniece
